Sweet Potato( shakar kand) Kheer

            Preparation Time- 15 minutes

           Cooking Time – 30 minutes


1 kg.- sweet potato

2 litre – full cream milk

1/2 kg.- khoya ( Mava)

300 g.- sugar

15-16 – Almonds thinly sliced

12-15 -cashew nut thinly sliced

15-16 – raisins

10-15 – pistachio thinly sliced

1/2 tsp – green cardamom powder

8-10 – saffron strings


1- Take a thick  bottomed utensil.

2- Boiled sweet potato into it with some water until they get soft.

3- Peel off from the sweet potato and mashed them properly.

4- Boil milk in a large pan.Add the mashed sweet potatoes into it and simmer it for 15 minutes.

5- Add the khoya and stir well.

6- Add sugar and simmer it for 7-8  minutes.

7- Take the one teaspoon of warm milk and soak the saffron in it for 5-7 minutes and add it into the pan.

8- Add the dry fruits in the mixture and stir it until the mixture get thick.

9- Now turn off the stove and add the cardamom powder.

10- Cool it off for 1-2  hours.

11- Serve chilled and enjoy.
